Please note the note on the applicable legal version.

The Federal Deputies Act ( law on the legal relationships of members of the German Bundestag ) regulates the application for a mandate in the German Bundestag , the leave of absence of candidates for election preparation, the legal status of the members of the public service elected in the Bundestag (e.g. civil servants ) , the benefits to members of parliament and former members of parliament (e.g. allowance for members of parliament , social benefits ), as well as the independence of members of parliament and the rights of parliamentary groups .

The acquisition and loss of membership in the Bundestag, however, is governed by the Federal Election Act .

The federal states have passed their own parliamentary laws for their parliaments.
