from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Perimetric representation of a visual field of the left eye with failure of the upper left quadrant (quadrant anopia) in a stroke patient

A Anopsie (synonym: Anopie ; from Greek ἁν- Toggle [ negative particle ] and ὄψις opsis , view ') is shown the inability, that is, the total or partial loss of the sense of sight, as he for example after a stroke can occur. If the visual field is unilateral , it is called a hemianopia . A distinction is made between homonymous and heteronymous hemianopsia. Homonymous hemianopsia is caused by a lesion in the area of the optic tract or the primary visual cortex(Area V1), the heteronymous hemianopia is caused by a lesion in the chiasm .

The use of the term anopia on its own is generally not very common. It is usually used with the term hemi- or quadrant anopia.
