Shape deviation
According to DIN 4760, deviations in the shape of technical surfaces are divided into six different degrees, with first to fourth order deviations in shape and thus determining the real surface quality of a body.
Shape deviation | designation |
---|---|
1st order | Shape deviations |
2nd order | Ripple |
3rd order | Roughness in the form of grooves |
4th order | Roughness in the form of grooves , scales, peaks |
5th order | Roughness of the microstructure |
6th order | Lattice structure of the material |
If the real surface quality deviates from the surface quality defined and required in the technical drawing , then there is a corresponding error . Deviations in shape of the 1st to 4th order are normally recognizable on the surface of the workpiece and are therefore also referred to as surface defects . Higher order errors can only be detected under the microscope or electron microscope.
