The Health Austria GmbH (GÖG) is the National Research and Planning Institute for Health and focal point for health promotion . The Republic of Austria , represented by the Minister of Health, is the sole shareholder of Health Austria . Gesundheit Österreich GmbH was established in 2006 on the basis of the Federal Law on Health Austria GmbH ( GÖGG ).

The organs of Gesundheit Österreich GmbH are a managing director, the general assembly, an institute assembly and a board of trustees ( § 8 GÖGG). The Republic of Austria as the sole shareholder is represented in the General Assembly by the Minister of Health.

The health economist Herwig Ostermann has been the managing director of GÖG since August 1, 2016 . Before that he headed the department for health economics at GÖG (division ÖBIG). He has also been Professor of Health Policy and Administration at the Department of Public Health, Health Services Research and Health Technology Assessment at UMIT since 2011 . Ostermann completed his studies in international economics in Innsbruck and Dublin and studied health sciences at UMIT.

His operations were Georg Ziniel and Arno Melitopulos.

According to § 2 GÖGG, Health Austria comprises the following three business areas:

The managing director and the heads of the business units form a management team .

The institute assembly ( §§ 9 and 10 GÖGG) has up to 27 members who are sent by the federal government, the federal states and the social security. The Minister of Health chairs the meeting. In particular, the institute assembly is responsible for issuing a statement on the appointment of the managing director and determining the strategic and scientific direction of the GÖG.

The Board of Trustees ( §§ 11 and 12 GÖGG) has 13 members, including representatives of the federal government, the federal states, the municipalities and cities, doctors, pharmacists, social security, private insurance companies and senior citizens. The Board of Trustees decides on the funding to be awarded by the GÖG.
