The grain beetle ( Phalacrus corruscus ) is a beetle from the family of the smooth beetle (Phalacridae).

features

The beetles are 1.5 to 3 millimeters long. They have a spherical-oval body that is completely glossy black. The elytra are weakly and indistinctly striped with very finely dotted spaces. The last link of the antennae ends with a point. The antennae and legs can be colored brown.

Way of life

They feed on rust and smut fungi that grow on sweet and sedge grasses . They can also be found on cereals infected by these fungi .
