The Saarland Trade and Entrepreneur Association - GVS eV is a registered association based in Neunkirchen (Saar) and represents the interests of the self-employed, members of the liberal professions, small and medium-sized enterprises ( SMEs ), trade, industry and business associations and guilds towards the state parliament and the government of Saarland , district and municipal administrations as well as towards the public and the media.

history

It was founded on June 23, 1962 by Karl Kunrath . Due to the inadequate lobby for the self-employed in politics, according to the local self-employed, Kunrath first initiated a local working group for self-employed and established contacts between medium-sized companies, clubs and associations in Saarland. The idea of bundling, organizing and implementing common interests and goals under an umbrella organization developed from the collaboration between these interest groups. As a result, Karl Kunrath finally founded the "Gewerbeverband des Saarlandes - GVS eV" and took over the position of chairman of the association until 1991. His successor in office was Karl Philippi, who was replaced in 2000 by the incumbent chairman, Kuni Ludwig Both. After fourteen years, Kuni Ludwig Both hands over the office to his desired successor, Timo Lehberger from Saarbrücken.

Historically, the European Association of Self-Employed Persons - Germany (ESD) eV emerged from the Saarland Trade Association. For this reason, the GVS still exists today as the only regional association of the otherwise centrally organized ESD.

Representation of political interests

The GVS represents the interests of SMEs vis-à-vis politics at local, district and state level , independent of party . Through the membership of representatives of the GVS in the "Mittelstandsbeirat der Landesregierung" as well as in numerous city and district parliaments, the association can influence economic policy decisions in Saarland. Furthermore, he is committed to joint activities in the greater SaarLorLux region through cross-border cooperation with self-employed associations in Luxembourg and in France near the border. With the help of its umbrella organization, the European Association of Self-Employed Persons - Germany (ESD) eV, based in Berlin, the GVS also acts on the national level.

organization

The board of the GVS consists of the chairman, 2 deputy chairmen as well as the treasurer and three assessors. According to the statutes, these board members are elected every 3 years by the general meeting.

The board of directors appoints working groups, advisory boards and committees, such as the board of directors of affiliated associations, clubs and organizations, to support it.

Association body

The "GewerbeReport" is a magazine tailored to the target group of the self-employed and tradespeople in small and medium-sized companies in Germany . It appeared from 1965 to 1973 in the publishing house of the trade association of the Saarland and since 1973 quarterly in the "publishing house of the European association of the self-employed - Germany eV" in an IVW checked edition of 17,500 copies. The copies intended for the GVS members also receive an eight-page special section containing relevant regional information.
