Union of Private Employees
The union of private employees with 285,600 members was the largest part of the union of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions . The GPA saw itself as a pluralistic organization that represented the interests of a wide variety of employee groups, as well as pupils and students, in the field of politics and economics on a social and cultural level. In April 2005 Wolfgang Katzian was elected GPA chairman, succeeding Hans Sallmutter . In 2007 the GPA merged with the djp (printing, journalism, paper) to form the GPA-djp .
