history

With Heinrich von Geymüller, the name of the publishing house refers to one of the founding fathers of architectural history as an independent discipline within the arts and cultural studies . Geymüller founded the method of looking at the building itself as the source of its own history, in addition to written and pictorial evidence, and thus a building history that not only includes the text but also the drawing - the builder's autographs as well as the building survey by later building researchers - is committed as an instrument of architectural analysis.

The publishing program sees itself as a continuation and renewal of this tradition. In particular, it stands for research on the history of architecture, which knows how to use the methods of historical building research for the issues of iconology and architectural meaning research as a whole.

profile

In addition to the Brandenburgische Denkmalpflege magazine and other individual publications, Geymüller | Verlag für Architektur books out in different series:

  • White Series: The books in the White Series deal with architectural aspects of a topic, an era, a building or a master builder ’s oeuvre.
  • Firmitas: The aim of the Firmitas series is to look at groundbreaking events in building history that interlink three aspects - construction, functionality and aesthetics.
  • Workbooks: In addition to the Blue Series , workbooks on the history of architecture are published , which outline individual aspects of the larger series.
  • Scriptorium Carolinum: The series includes various publications on the rich architectural history of Aachen .
