Ghalib Halasa

Ghalib Halasa ( Arabic غالب هلسة, DMG Ġālib Halasa ; *  1932 in Māʿīn south of Amman ; † 1989 in Damascus ) was a Jordanian writer.

Ghalib Halsa was born in Māʿīn. He studied journalism in Beirut from 1950 to 1958 . As a very active leftist in the opposition, he had difficulties with state power and was banished from Jordan for the rest of his life in 1956 . After his exile, he no longer had a permanent place of residence; he moved between the cities of Beirut, Baghdad, Cairo and Damascus, among other places. Halasa has written for several news agencies and newspapers as a journalist, translating authors such as William Faulkner and JD Salinger from English into Arabic. He wrote a total of seven books and a few short stories. In March 2008, his book "Wadi and the Holy Milada" was published in German by Edition Hamouda.
