Ghalym Isbassaruly Orasbaqow ( Kazakh Ғалым Ізбасарұлы Оразбақов , Russian Галым Избасарович Оразбаков Galym Isbassarowitsch Orasbakow * 1. September 1964 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh diplomat and politician and, since January 2014 Head of the Kazakh Agency for Protection of Competition. He is married and has three children.

biography

Ghalym Orasbaqow was born on September 1, 1964 in Almaty . In 1986 he graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute specializing in mechanical engineering. From 1986 to 1993 he worked in various positions in business. Until 1994 Orasbaqow was department head and deputy head of the Office of the State Committee on Pricing and Competition Policy. From October 1995 to October 1996 he was Deputy Minister for Transport and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Orasbaqow was then chairman of the customs committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Finance. In 1997 and 1998 he was reappointed Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications. Until 1999 he was managing director of the Kazakh national oil company Kazakhoil (now KazMunayGas ). From 2000 to 2001 he worked for the Kazakh Prime Minister's Office. He then was Vice Minister for Trade and Economics from 2001 to 2003.

Orasbakov initially switched back to business and held the post of President of the national company Kazakhstan Engineering, before he became Minister for Trade and Economy in 2007.

Since April 16, 2008 he has been the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel and since October 31, 2008 also Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus . On April 25, 2012, Orasbaqov was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation by presidential decree.

Since January 22, 2014 he has been the head of the Kazakh Competition Protection Agency.
