Gianluigi Aponte
Gianluigi Aponte (born June 27, 1940 in Sorrento ) is an Italian entrepreneur and shipowner .
Life
Aponte learned the trade of seaman and then made his officer license . As the captain of a cruise ship, he met his future wife, the Swiss Rafaela Diamant. He moved to live with her in Geneva, where he worked temporarily at Bernard Cornfeld's investment company Investors Overseas Services (IOS). In 1970 Aponte founded the Italian shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), which later also moved its headquarters to Geneva . With Rafaela Diamant, Aponte has two children. He lives in Geneva with his family. According to the US Forbes Magazine Aponte has a net worth of $ 7.5 billion with his wife.
