Gianpietro Zappa
Gianpietro Zappa (born February 11, 1956 - † May 8, 2005 in Lugano ) was a Swiss football player .
Zappa was a national player in the early 1980s. In the Swiss national football team , he played a total of 23 international matches and scored three goals.
Zappa began his football career at FC Lugano . In 1977 he moved to FC Zurich , with whom he became Swiss champion in 1981 . After seven years he left Zurich and switched to Lausanne-Sports in 1984 and later back to his home club in Lugano . Here he ended his career in June 1989 and dedicated himself to managing his sports shop.
Zappa's specialty were practically seamless hard shots and free kicks from a distance of 20 to 30 meters.
Gianpietro Zappa died on 8 May 2005 at the age of 49 years in Lugano clinic a cancer .
