The Giant Garden ( English for giant garden ) is a plateau on the Ulu Peninsula in the northwest of James Ross Island in the West Antarctic Weddell Sea . It is located at a height of 140 m on the southwest side of Berry Hill . There is a connection to the Halozetes Valley in an easterly direction via the Panorama Pass . A special feature of the plain is a large area overgrown with mosses and lichens in an otherwise rocky environment with no vegetation.
The plateau is in the vicinity of the Czech Mendola polar station . It is named after the lush garden of a mountain giant from a Czech fairy tale.
