Gilbert Winram

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gilbert Winram (* in Scotland , date unknown, † 1530 in Frankenberg ) was a Scottish theologian.

In 1527 he accompanied Patrick and John Hamilton on their visit to the newly founded Philipps University of Marburg and after the two of them left, he stayed as Amanuensis (secretary) with Franz Lambert von Avignon . He is probably responsible for passing on Patrick Hamilton's theses on law and gospel to John Frith , which he had printed in 1530 as Patrick's Places or Die summa ende dat begrijp des me (n) sche salicheyts . Winram died in Frankenberg in 1530, where the university was relocated because of the plague .
