Gilberte Roca

Gilberte Roca (born Cau ; born February 18, 1911 in Cailhau , † July 26, 2004 in Nîmes ) was a French politician . From 1945 to 1958 and from 1962 to 1963 she was a member of the National Assembly .

Life

Roca came from a family of farm workers and became involved as a militant communist very early on . In 1934 she joined the Communist Party . Roca, whose husband was also an active communist, was involved in the resistance during the German occupation . In 1945 she entered the National Assembly for the Gard department . In the same year she became a member of the central committee of her party, which she remained until 1960. She also became a member of the General Council in 1945 . She was re-elected several times as a member of parliament until 1958. After leaving parliament, she was elected to the Nîmes City Council in 1959 , to which she was a member until 1977. In 1962 Roca moved back into parliament for a short time.
