Gillian Margaret "Gill" Cowley (born July 8, 1955 in Kitwe , Northern Rhodesia ) is a former hockey player.
successes
At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Gillian Margaret Cowley won the gold medal with the Zimbabwe national hockey team. This success was favored by the boycott of the USA and many other countries, so that a victory against the favored Soviet Union was enough for the team of Zimbabwe to win the gold medal. The national women's hockey team won the only gold medal in Zimbabwe at the 1980 Summer Olympics.
After the career
Cowley later emigrated to New Zealand and worked for an accounting firm.
