Craigavon was one of the 26 Northern Irish Districts that existed from 1973 to 2015. The district, whose area was in the traditional counties of Antrim , Armagh and Down , was established in 1973 and had the status of a borough . The administrative seat was the city of Craigavon . Other significant places were Lurgan , Portadown , Waringstown and Donaghcloney . On April 1, 2015, it went up in the new District of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon .
The district was on the south bank of Lough Neagh .
