Strabane ( Irish An Srath Bán ) was one of the 26 Northern Irish districts that existed from 1973 to 2015. The district was in traditional County Tyrone . Important places were the administrative headquarters Strabane as well as Plumbridge , Newtownstewart , Donemana , Sion Mills and Castlederg . On April 1, 2015, it went up in the new Derry and Strabane district .
