Gustav Schnell

Gustav Schnell (* 1793 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † 1864 ibid) was a German shipowner .

Honorable businessman

After fighting in the Wars of Liberation , he founded a company for import and export, which he later merged with his father's shipping company . Together with his brothers-in-law Karl-August Dultz and Friedrich Laubmeyer , he founded the Union foundry in Königsberg on the Laak in 1828 . She named her first steamer "Schnell" after him .

Schnell was one of the most respected merchants in Königsberg. He was head of the merchants' group for 24 years. He became a go. Appointed Kommerzienrat and Admiraltyrat and was an advisor for the General German Commercial Code and for the law of the sea .

Schnell was married to Frida Dultz. His son-in-law Adolf Hoffmann became heir to the trading company.
