Valeri Minkenen (born April 9, 1989 in Leningrad ) is a Russian-born Finnish football player . The midfielder is under contract with KTP Kotka .

Career

Valeri Minkenen was born in 1989 in what was formerly Leningrad, now known again as St. Petersburg. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , he emigrated to Finland with his family, like many other Inglese Finns . Other well-known football players who were also born in Russia and have Finnish citizenship include Alexei and Roman Eremenko .

As a child, Minkenen joined the HJK Helsinki . With the Finnish record champions from the Veikkausliiga , however, the midfielder was not used in the professional field. During his time at the club from the capital Helsinki , he was loaned to league competitor AC Oulu in 2007 . There he made his debut on the 1st matchday of the 2007 season against FC Viikingit . The first and only goal during his time with the Helsinki district club from Vuosaari he was able to achieve against FC Lahti .

After the contract at HJK had expired, he moved to league rivals Haka Valkeakoski on a free transfer . In the two seasons there he mostly came on as a substitute.

In March 2010 Minkenen signed a two-year contract with the Estonian record champions FC Flora Tallinn . At FC Flora he was an integral part of the 2010 championship team under coach Martin Reim in his debut season . On matchday 1 he scored his first goal for Flora against JK Kalev Sillamäe , the 2-1 winner in the 23rd minute of the game. Minkenen has a small tradition of Finnish football players at Flora, with Jonatan Johansson , Juha Hakola , Jasse Jalonen and Pasi Rautiainen all under contract with the club from the Baltic States. In the Estonian Cup 2010/11 he and Flora won the title in the final against JK Trans Narva 2-0, and he prepared the opening goal for Markus Jürgenson .

As the reigning champion, Minkenen and Flora took part in the Champions League, where the capital's club started in the second qualifying round against the Shamrock Rovers from Ireland. In the first leg in Dublin , the Rovers met in the 33rd minute of the game in the person of Chris Turner , shortly before the opening goal Markus Juergenson was brought down in the Irish penalty area, after which Minkenen took the penalty, but failed against the Canadian goalkeeper of the Rovers Alan Mannus . After 90 minutes it was 0: 1 from the point of view of the Finns and Flora Tallinn.

At the end of the 2012 season , Minkenen terminated the contract with Flora by mutual agreement with the club.
