Career
society
Jonatan Johansson started his career as a professional footballer in 1995 with the Finnish first division club Turku PS . After two years he left the club and signed a contract with the Estonian top club FC Flora Tallinn . He was the first Finnish player to move to an Estonian club. After nine goals in nine games, Johansson moved to Scottish first division club Glasgow Rangers after a few months for £ 500,000 . There he initially had problems with the then coach Walter Smith . After he was replaced by Dick Advocaat , things went better for the attacker. In three years the Finnish striker won five titles with the Rangers (2 × champions, 2 × FA Cup, 1 × League Cup).
Then Johansson was sold to Premier League club Charlton Athletic for £ 3.75 million . There he was a regular for five years before he was loaned to second division Norwich City .
Between 2006 and 2008 Johansson played for the Swedish first division club Malmö FF . Together with compatriot Jari Litmanen and his Brazilian strike partner José Júnior , a dangerous storm developed. Johanssen scored eleven goals in fourteen games in his first season. In summer 2008 his contract with Malmö expired. After a short time without a club, Johansson signed on November 13, 2008 with the Scottish capital club Hibernian . However, the attacker was only eligible to play from January, so that he was without competitive games until then. On January 3, 2009, he finally made his debut for the Hibs in the game against Heart of Midlothian . On September 1, 2009, his contract with the Scottish first division club ran out.
In late October 2009 he signed a contract until January 2010 with the Scottish first division club FC St. Johnstone , from which he moved to his home club Turku PS in 2010 , where he scored ten goals in 20 championship games in the 2010 Veikkausliiga . In March 2011 he ended his active career.
Johansson later worked as a youth coach in Scotland. After an engagement at Greenock Morton , he replaced Gordon Young at Motherwell FC in the summer of 2012 .
National team
From 1996 to 2010 Jonatan Johansson scored 22 goals in 105 games for the Finnish national team . He made his debut on March 16, 1996 against Kuwait . He also managed the only hit of the game. On October 14th, 2009 he played against Germany for the 100th time in the dress of his home country in the Hamburg Volksparkstadion . In the encounter that ended 1: 1, he scored the 1-0 lead.
