Banbridge ( Irish Droichead na Banna ) was one of the 26 Northern Irish districts that existed from 1973 to 2015. The district, whose territory was in traditional County Down , was established in 1973. Important places in the district were the town of Banbridge , which was also the administrative seat, as well as Gilford , Loughbrickland and Scarva . On April 1, 2015, it went up in the new District Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon , with its eastern part Newry, Morne and Down was added.
