Gintarėlis (Eng. ' Amber ') is a boys' and youth choir in the port city of Klaipėda , the third largest city in Lithuania .
history
In 1963 Rimantas Zdanavičius founded the boys' choir in Klaipėda. In 1966 the choir was given its current name. In 1970 the 2nd children's music school was founded in Klaipėda (since 1995 Jeronimas Kačinskas music school) with a section for choral singing . Here the “Gintarėlis” chorists learned music ( solfège , music history , piano, choir conducting ).
In 1991 the choir took 3rd place at Cantonigros (in Spain ) and in 2000 1st place at European Confestival (in Kalundborg , Denmark ). In 1995 the choir took part in a festival in Nantes ( France ) and in the Stasys Šimkus competition (Lithuania).
