Giorgi Guraspashvili

Giorgi Guraspashvili , also Georgi Guraspashvili ( Georgian გიორგი გურასპაშვილი ; born May 10, 1959 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian painter and sculptor and professor at the Georgian State Art Academy in Tbilisi. Since 1994 he has exhibited his colorful works internationally, often also in Germany. In 2008 he exhibited together with German and Russian artists in Shenyang in the People's Republic of China.

Guraspashvili has won many awards, including the gold medal watercolor at the Malta Biennale.

Through his life teacher Kurt Dörpinghaus he got to know the network of deeply felt friendships.

He was friends with Jörg Immendorff , mutual exhibitions of their art in Tbilisi and Düsseldorf, with Dame Francoise Tempra, with Wolfgang Prinz and Ralf Plein, who organize exhibitions for him, with RO Schabbach, who became his master student at the Art Academy in Tbilisi.

He learned the art from his father Guram Guraspashvili. He was a sculptor and dean of the Tbilisi Art Academy, although he was never in the communist party. Today Georgi teaches his son Nikolos Guraspashvili, who continues the tradition.
