Giorgio Milanetti

Giorgio Milanetti (* 1955 ) is an Italian Indologist , author and film director .

Milanetti teaches as an associate professor of Hindu language and literature at La Sapienza University in Rome. From 2005 to 2008 he was head of the Department of Oriental Studies.

In the 1980s, Milanetti published two books on medieval religious texts of Hinduism in collaboration with Laxman Prasad Mishra, specializing in myths from the 15th to 17th centuries. Later he also devoted himself to modern topics and wrote an Italian-Hindi language course.

In 1990, Milanetti shot the film Agnes , based on his own script, with funding from the Ministry of Tourism , which was shown on only a few occasions, almost in camera. In it, Milanetti describes the living conditions of young people in the small town.
