Life
Born in the province of Vercelli , he showed an inclination and ability to draw at an early age. He was then apprenticed to a local painter, and at the age of 14 he was sent to Rome to see an uncle who introduced him to Gian Lorenzo Bernini . Much more important in his training and subsequent activities of the young Falda was the meeting with Giovanni Giacomo De Rossi and the apprenticeship as a printer. De Rossi was the trainer and mentor for the young Falda with whom he worked all his short life.
Giovanni Giacomo Rossi (* 1627; † 1691) inherited the most important Roman printing company of the 17th century from his father Giuseppe (1570–1639). His main work, the atlas "Mercurio Geografico", was printed in Rome from 1690 to 1714.
