The TV show Girlscamp was a German reality show that was broadcast on Sat.1 from January 26 to March 19, 2001 .

Concept and process

The concept is similar to that of Big Brother . A total of ten women live in a luxuriously furnished villa on the Canary Island of El Hierro by the sea and are filmed and observed by 57 video cameras. Every week a woman is elected from the villa by a spectator vote. After seven weeks the final takes place and the last remaining lady is chosen as the winner and receives prize money of 100,000 euros. In addition, men can apply for a date with the women via video messages and may be invited to the house.

The first and only season was won by the 21-year-old English studies student Anita.

Moderation

The format was moderated by Kena Amoa and Barbara Schöneberger . Amoa took over the daily broadcasts, while Schöneberger conducted interviews twice a week with friends and relatives of the participants as well as with guests.

criticism

Spiegel Online criticized the premiere broadcast for the fact that the broadcast's advance notice gave a false image of the women taking part. They summed up a staid mix of styles of "0190 sex telephony bizarre paired with" Charlie's Angels 2000 "aesthetics."

Due to poor audience numbers, the show ended after the first season and a subsequent season was canceled.
