Girolamo Avanzi

Girolamo Avanzi (Latinized Hieronymus Avantius or Hieronymus Avancius ) (* 15th century in Verona ; † early 16th century ) was an Italian humanist .

Avanzi was a professor of philosophy in Padua . Otherwise little is known about him. Numerous text-critical editions go to him Latin poet (of Ausonius , of Lucretius , and especially the tragedies of the younger Seneca ) and writer ( editio princeps of letters from 41 to 121 of the tenth book of the letters of the younger Pliny , that the letters to the Emperor Trajan includes ) as well as emendations back to these authors. With this he supported Aldus Manutius in his editorial work.
