Gisele Sapiro

Gisèle Sapiro (born June 22, 1965 ) is a French sociologist, historian and specialist in the literature of France from the 19th to the 21st century.

Life

Sapiro received her Bachelor's and Master of Arts degrees from Tel Aviv University .

Sapiro is now research director at the CNRS (Center national de la recherche scientifique) and a member of the CSE ( Center de sociologie européenne ). Her work is in the tradition of the thought of Pierre Bourdieu . After completing her research on the involvement of French writers in the Vichy regime and anti-Semitism during the occupation during World War II , she turned to topics such as globalization and the worldwide circulation of texts and ideas.
