Peter Mahringer

Peter Mahringer (born July 2, 1943 in Bad Bleiberg , Carinthia , † June 26, 2003 in Vienna ) was an Austrian section head and long-time head of the ministerial offices of Erhard Busek and Elisabeth Gehrer .

Life

Mahringer was born as the youngest son of the painter Anton Mahringer . He attended the Tanzenberg high school, where he graduated in 1961. Then he studied history in Vienna. Since 1961 he was a member of the Catholic KÖStV Austria Vienna in the ÖCV . He received his doctorate in 1969. phil. From 1975 he worked for Erhard Busek and from 1978 headed his office as Vice Mayor. In 1989 he moved to the Ministry of Science as head of cabinet from Federal Minister and Vice Chancellor Erhard Busek, and in 1994 he moved to the Ministry of Education. From 1995 until his death in 2003, he headed Elisabeth Gehrer's ministerial office. In 1996 he was appointed Section Head and Head of the Central Section. Peter Mahringer died in Vienna after a serious illness and was buried at the Döblinger Friedhof .

Peter Mahringer played a decisive role in shaping the Austrian educational and cultural landscape over the years. He was particularly known for his quick and unbureaucratic help. Jörg Mauthe called him the know-it-all and omnipotent . He got involved with children and young people in the Balkans and the former Eastern Bloc countries, which is why the Austrian school abroad in Shkodra in Albania was named after him .
