Gisela Völger

Gisela Völger (born April 28, 1937 ) is a German ethnologist and former museum director.

Völger studied ethnology, prehistory and physical anthropology in Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Mainz. She did her doctorate in Mainz with a reconstruction of the lost Tasmanian people . She headed the Cologne Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum für Völkerkunde from 1979 to 2000. Her exhibitions focused on the concept of cultural comparison with great success. The 1981 exhibition on global drug use made them particularly popular. She is an honorary professor at the University of Cologne.

She also wrote a travel guide for Mallorca .
