Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy

The Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy ( French Trophée Giuseppe Garibaldi , Italian Trofeo Giuseppe Garibaldi , also called Continental Cup in British media ) is a trophy designed by Jean-Pierre Rives in the sport of rugby union , which is part of the Six Nations Tournament will be presented to the winner of the match between France and Italy . It is named after the Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi on the occasion of his 200th birthday in 2007 .

The trophy was created by the sculptor Jean-Pierre Rives , who was a French national player from 1975 to 1984. The trophy was presented on February 2, 2007 in the Palazzo Farnese , the French embassy in Rome . The following day France won the trophy for the first time, beating Italy 39-3. On March 12, 2011, Italy won the trophy for the first time. France has won the trophy 11 times so far, while Italy has 2 wins.
