Giuseppe Berto
Giuseppe Berto (born December 27, 1914 in Mogliano , Italy , † November 2, 1978 in Rome ) was an Italian writer .
Life
After leaving school, Giuseppe Berto was a soldier for thirteen years . During World War II, he fell into American captivity and was in Texas interned. After the war he studied literature in Padua . Berto was a neo-realistic narrator. His dark and illusion-free novels depict in unpathetic language the suffering of young people in the war and post-war period. With his novel "Il brigante", which appeared in German in 1952 under the title "Mein Freund der Brigant", Berto achieved international fame.
