Giuseppe De Cristoforis or De Cristofori (born October 11, 1803 in Milan , † December 27, 1837 ibid) was an Italian naturalist and collector.

Giuseppe De Cristoforis belonged to the Milanese nobility. He studied in Volterra and developed his passion for natural history.

Their marriage in 1823 resulted in two daughters, and his wife died in 1831. In that year he met the Austrian botanist Georg Jan , who teaches at the University of Parma . In the summer of 1831 he acquired his natural history collection and combined it with his own; so he formed the core of the later natural history museum ( Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Milano ) in his house . He finally bequeathed his collection to the city of Milan on condition that a museum be set up for it and that Giorgio Jan be entrusted with its management. After a few days of illness, he died at the age of 34.

De Cristofori and Jan's mollusc collection in Milano was destroyed during World War II.
