Giuseppe Giamberti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Giuseppe Giamberti (* around 1600 in Rome , † around 1662 there) was an Italian conductor and composer of the Baroque.

Life

Giuseppe Giamberti received his musical training from Giovanni Bernardino Nanino and Paolo Agostini , as he mentioned various on the cover of his poetry . He initially worked as the successor to Fabio Constantini (around 1575- after 1644) at Orvieto Cathedral as Kapellmeister, after which he also held this position at two churches in his hometown.

It is thanks to his teachers that he was a master of the polyphonic style. His four-part mass "Veni sponsa Christi" is important; he also created a number of motets and antiphons of the same high quality and many other sacred compositions. Some secular works for guitar and some singing and playing pieces show that he was also open to the musical development that went beyond this.
