Giusi Marchetta (* 1982 in Milan ) is an Italian writer.

Life

Giusi Marchetta was born in Milan in 1982, but grew up in the south of Italy, near Naples , as her parents are southern Italians. She studied Classical Philology in Naples and then trained as a teacher. The school reform in Italy has cut many jobs, so she moved to Turin, where she now works at an inclusive high school.

She wrote her first collection of stories, Dai un bacio a chi vuoi tu (2007, Terre di mezzo ) after a creative writing workshop with Antonella Cilento, for which she was awarded the “Premio Calvino”. Her second collection of stories, Napoli ore 11 , was published in 2009, also by the small Milanese publisher Terre di mezzo, and is now in its 4th edition. The iguana doesn't want that is her first novel and a finalist for the Italian literary prize "Premio Alassio". The Italian original edition was published in 2011 under the title L'iguana non vuole by the Italian publisher Rizzoli in Milan.

The author is currently working as an editor for the Italian publisher Einaudi and on various film projects.
