Giwi Lomidze ( Georgian გივი ლომიძე , English transliteration: Givi Lomidze ; May 2, 1983 in Charagauli , Georgian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Georgian theologian .

Life

Giwi Lomidze, a member of the Georgian Orthodox Church , received theological training at the Spiritual Seminary and Academy in Tbilisi. At the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt , he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD; Since 2015 he has been a habilitation candidate at the Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna University of Vienna . He has been teaching at the International Theological Institute (ITI) in Trumau since 2016 .

He has been a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2019 . Together with the Catholic theologian Michaela Christine Hastetter , he founded the Johannes von Damascus study house in Vienna in 2017 and the St. Ephräm Scientific Center for Orient & Occident Studies in 2019 .
