The shiny clam or brown clam ( Callista chione ) is a type of clam from the order of the Venerida .

features

The housing, which has the same flap, is somewhat longer in outline and has a diameter of up to 9 centimeters. The shell is very finely striped concentrically and therefore almost smooth. The color is a dirty gray with brown, concentric bands often connected by spots. The lock is strong and broad, the right valve has two pit-delimiting posterior teeth and three elongated main teeth. The spawning season is April.

distribution and habitat

The distribution area includes the eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean . The species occurs regularly and very frequently on all sedimentary soils.
