Gladys Willan
Gladys Ellen Willan (born Hall ; born March 19, 1883 in London , † December 8, 1964 in Toronto ) was a Canadian music teacher and pianist.
Gladys Hall studied piano with Francesco Berger and Tobias Matthay and singing with Walter Mackway at the Royal Conservatory of Music . In 1905 she married the composer Healey Willan , whom she followed to Toronto in 1914. There she worked as a piano and singing teacher and published Let's Play and Sing araound the Clock (with Olive Brush ) and A Manual of Ear-Training and Sight-Singing (1939, new edition 1971) in 1929 . She took part in the Shakespeare productions at schools in Toronto by her student Mavor Moore as musical director.
