Literary work

He made his debut as a writer in 1955 in the Polish regional newspaper Trybuna Śląska . Kijonka wrote a triptych with the title Konstantynopol Mickiewicza. It was about Adam Mickiewicz , the most important of the Three Bards of Polish Romanticism , who lived during the 19th century when there was no Polish nation-state. For his article he took first place in a literary student competition on the occasion of the Mickiewicz year. The importance of Kijonka in Polish literature was highlighted by other writers, including by Andrzej Krzysztof Waskiewicz , Krzysztof Mętrak , Sergiusz Sterna-Wachowiak , Tadeusz Kłak , Bronisław Maj , Michał Sprusiński , Marian Kisiel , Anna Wegrzyniak and Krystyna Heska-Kwaśniewicz .

His works are repeatedly dominated by Silesian motifs, but also by romantic actions, patriotism to his Polish homeland as well as references to painful events in Polish history and the presence of ancient motifs. His poems often deal with his childhood in Radlin II.

The book Światy poetyckie by Tadeusz Sierny and Marian Kisiel is dedicated to him.
