The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage ( Polish: Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego , abbreviated MKiDN ) is a supreme authority of the Republic of Poland , which is responsible for culture and national heritage. The ministry was established on October 26, 1999 and began operating on November 10 of the same year. In the period from October 23, 2001 and October 31, 2005 it was named Ministry of Culture .

The agency's history dates back to 1918 when it was founded as the Ministry of Arts and Culture. The Potocki Palace has been the seat of the ministry since 1949 .

  • Support via: theater, music, ballet, opera, visual arts , literature, museums, folk culture, cultural education, cultural exchange with foreign countries
  • Monument protection
  • Preservation and dissemination of national tradition, for example by being awarded the Gloria Artis Medal for cultural merit as the highest Polish state prize in the field of culture
  • Supervision of art schools
  • Supervision of the General Director of the State Archives
