The Ministry of Science and Higher Education ( Polish: Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego , abbreviated MNiSW ) is a supreme authority of the Republic of Poland , which leads the government administration in the areas of "science" and "higher education" and is the dispatcher of state research funding.

A science council worked alongside the minister and replaced the research committee that was abolished in 2005.

On October 31, 2005, the Marcinkiewicz Cabinet abolished the Ministry of Science and Informatization , whose duties were taken over by the newly established Ministry of Education and Science . The IT department was assigned to the Ministry of the Interior.

On May 5, 2006, Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz appointed the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to replace Education and Science .
