Hansi is a city (since 1995 a Municipal Council ) in the northwest Indian state of Haryana .

The city lies at an altitude of 226  m, 130 km west-northwest of the federal capital New Delhi . Hansi is in the Hisar district . The city had 86,770 inhabitants at the 2011 census. In Kaithal, 96% of the population is Hindu .

The national highway NH 10 connects Hansi with Hisar, 24 km to the west, and Rohtak, 60 km to the east-southeast . Hansi is on the Hisar – Rohtak railway line.

The climate in Hansi is known as the local steppe climate . In the summer months of July and August, during the monsoon season , most precipitation falls. The average annual precipitation is 568 mm. The annual mean temperature is 24.6 ° C.
