Hisar ( Hindi हिसार Hisār ; earlier spelling: Hissar ) is a city ( Municipal Corporation ) in the northwest Indian state of Haryana .
The city lies at an altitude of 213 m . Hisar is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city had 301,383 inhabitants at the 2011 census, with suburbs 307,024.
Hisar is a transportation hub. The national highways NH 10 ( Fatehabad - Hansi ) and NH 65 ( Rajgarh - Barwala ) cross in Hisar. From Hisar there are rail links to Hansi, Barwala, Sirsa and Rajgarh.
