Panchkula is a city in the northwest Indian state of Haryana .

The Municipal Corporation Panchkula was created on March 17, 2010 by merging the former Municipal Council Panchkula , the two Municipal Committees Pinjore and Kalka and 54 villages. The Municipal Corporation Panchkula consists of the three zones Kalka , Panchkula and Pinjore .

location

The city lies at the foot of the Siwaliks at an altitude of 338  m on the river Ghaggar . The urban area borders on the Union Territory of Chandigarh to the west . Panchkula is actually a satellite city of Chandigarh. Panchkula is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .

Residents

The then Municipal Council Panchkula had 211,355 inhabitants at the 2011 census. By incorporating neighboring cities and villages into the 120 km² Municipal Corporation , the corresponding population was 372,000.

Patiala temple

In Panchkula is the Mansa Devi temple complex with the Patiala temple built in 1840. Kalka is an end point of the Kalka-Shimla Railway narrow-gauge railway .
