Sirsa is a city ( Municipal Council ) in the northwestern Indian state of Haryana .
The city is located at an altitude of 204 m south of the course of the Ghaggar River , which runs along the border with Punjab . Sirsa is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city had 182,534 inhabitants at the 2011 census.
The national highway NH 10 connects Sirsa with Mandi Dabwali, 60 km northwest, and Fatehabad, 40 km east . Sirsa Railway Station is on the Hisar - Bathinda railway line .
