The district of Sirsa ( Hindi : सिरसा ज़िला; Punjabi : ਸਿਰਸਾ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ) is located in the northern Indian state of Haryana .

The district is located in the far west of Haryana, 230 km west-northwest of the federal capital New Delhi . The administrative seat is the eponymous city of Sirsa . The district extends over the north Indian plain. Its area is 4277 km².

The entire area of ​​the district became part of the newly established state of Haryana on November 1, 1966. In 1968 the then Tehsil Sirsa was divided into the Tehsils Sirsa and Dabwali. In 1974 3 villages came from Dabwali to Sirsa. On September 1, 1975, the Tehsils Sirsa and Dabwali formed the Sirsa District with the city of Sirsa as its administrative center.
