Panipat is a district in the Indian state of Haryana .
The area is 1268 km². The administrative seat is the city of the same name Panipat .
history
The region has historically been under the influence of various empires and empires such as the Maurya Empire , the Gupta Empire , the Sultanate of Delhi , the Mughal Empire and the British Empire .
The Panipat district was formed on November 1, 1989 from the former Karnal district. On July 24, 1991 it was merged again with the Karnal district. On January 1, 1992, it became a separate district again.

Children under 6 years of age are 14.1% of the population.
Almost 46.1% of the population live in cities. The largest city is Panipat with 294,292 inhabitants.
