Bhiwani is a district in the northwestern Indian state of Haryana .
The district was established on December 22, 1972. The district is located in the Hisar division - about 120 km west of Delhi . In the west it borders on the state of Rajasthan . It extends over an area of 5099 km². In the north of the district are alluvial plains . In the south, on the other hand, there is a semi-desert landscape with the northern foothills of the Aravalli Mountains .

In the 2011 census, the population was 1,634,445. 10 years earlier it was 1,425,002. The gender ratio was 886 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 75.21% (85.65% for men, 63.54% for women). Over 98% of the population are Hindus , 0.95% were Muslims . The seat of the district administration is the city of Bhiwani .
