Loharu (also Luharu ) is a small town in the northern Indian state of Haryana .

The city is located in the north Indian plain 140 km west of the federal capital New Delhi . It is the seat of the eponymous Tehsils in the Bhiwani district . The district capital Bhiwani is 50 km northeast of Loharu.

Loharu has been a Municipal Committee since August 25, 2006 . It is divided into 13 wards . Loharu had 13,934 inhabitants at the 2011 census. The gender ratio was 894 women for 1,000 men. Almost 98% of the population were Hindu .

Loharu was the capital of the eponymous princely state founded in 1803 during the era of British India . An important remnant of this princely state is the Loharu Fort - now a tourist attraction.

Loharu is a junction on the Rewari - Mahendragarh - Sadulpur railway line .
